The Art of Story Immortality

Legacy Films preserves the stories that make us who we are — with intention, artistry, and care.

In addition to family legacy work, Legacy Films also collaborates with organizations and institutions seeking to preserve foundational stories, meaningful contributions or support multi-generational wealth planning.

Our philosophy.

Long before we wrote our stories down,
we told them — around fires, under stars, with hands that remembered before the mind could.

Every story was a spark, passed from voice to voice, from heart to heart.

But time softens even the brightest flames.

Photographs fade. Voices are forgotten.
The stories that built us are whispered less each year.

At Legacy Films, we relight the fire.

We listen, record, and preserve the stories that make us who we are —
so that they can live beyond us.

Through film, memory becomes light.
Through light, legacy becomes eternal.

Every laugh, every pause, every glance —
kept alive with intention, artistry, and respect.

This is the new firelight of our time — not born of flame, but of story.

Legacy Films.
The art of story immortality.

What We Do

Legacy Films creates intimate, documentary-style films that capture a person’s story in their own words — their memories, reflections, and presence — preserved for family and future generations.

We work quietly and thoughtfully, guiding each project from first conversation through final delivery with care and respect.
No rushing. No scripts unless requested. No artificial timelines.

Every film is shaped by the story itself.

How We Work

Our process is designed to feel calm, unrushed, and human.

We begin with listening.
We prepare before the camera ever rolls.
We film in meaningful places, where people feel most at ease.

Many of those we work with have never been on camera before.
That’s expected — and welcomed.

Our role is not to perform, but to create space.

What Sets Legacy Films Apart

Documentary-first storytelling

  • A guided, private, family-first approach

  • Professional filming and sound captured with discretion

  • No preset runtimes — only complete stories

  • Long-term archival stewardship beyond delivery

This work is meant to last.
So we treat it that way.

Behind the Camera

Legacy Films is led by two lifelong storytellers and great friends, who share a belief that the smallest details often carry the greatest meaning.

Chris Nowakowski — Producer
Chris has been making films since childhood, first picking up a camera at the age of seven and later purchasing his first SLR camera as a teenager. His work has been published in magazines, displayed publicly, and seen at scale — including being among the earliest aerial drone photographers in Canada. From the beginning, his focus has been on storytelling, patience, and the quiet moments that give images their weight.

Steve Domjancic — Director
Steve came to photography later, but with intention and seriousness. As a mature student at Fanshawe College, he was awarded Photographer of the Year in both years of his program. His work has taken him across the world, with a specialization in portraiture, food, and documentary storytelling. Today, Steve has come full circle — teaching photography at the same institution where he once trained.

In 2014, Chris and Steve co-founded Gotham Studios, where they spent years creating visual stories for national commercial brands. Their work appeared in major campaigns, billboards, and television. In 2020, they sold the studio — but never stopped thinking about returning to work together.

Legacy Films is that return.

This time, the focus is not scale, speed, or campaigns.
It’s craft. Care. And stories that deserve to be preserved.

In the commercial world, they learned that ten small details add up to one profound difference. That philosophy now guides every Legacy Film — where every pause, every glance, and every word is treated with intention and respect.
