In ancient Rome, memoria aeterna reflected the desire for a legacy to endure beyond a lifetime. Legacy Films carries that tradition forward — preserving the stories, voices, and memories that make us who we are through cinematic storytelling created to last for generations.

Long before we wrote our stories down, we told them — around fires, under stars, passed on from one generation to the next.
Every story was a spark, passed from voice to voice. But time softens even the brightest flames.
Voices are forgotten. Details disappear. The stories that built a family are told less often, until eventually there is no one left to tell them.
Legacy Films is the new firelight.
Through film, we preserve not only the stories, but the voice, laughter, expressions and presence of the person telling them.
So they can be passed on. And remembered.

Legacy Films is led by lifelong friends and visual storytellers Steve Domjancic & Chris Nowakowski.
Our creative partnership began long before Legacy Films.
In 2014, we co-founded Gotham Studios, where we spent years creating photography and film for national brands, with work appearing in major campaigns, on billboards and television.
We sold Gotham in 2020 and followed separate paths, but we never stopped talking about working together again.
Legacy Films is that return.
This time, we’re creating something different.
Not work designed to last for a campaign.
Stories designed to last for generations.
This is my great-great-great grandfather. Like most families, this photograph is almost all we have left of him. I can see what he looked like, but I’ll never hear his voice or hear him tell his stories.
Imagine if the technology to preserve those things had existed back then.

Steve Domjancic - Director
Steve is a photographer, filmmaker and educator whose career has been built around one central idea: great images begin with understanding people.
After studying photography at Fanshawe College, where he was named Photographer of the Year in both years of his program, Steve built a career spanning portraiture, commercial photography and documentary filmmaking. His work has taken him around the world.
As director of Legacy Films, Steve brings together decades of visual storytelling with a deep curiosity about people — their experiences, relationships, choices, and the stories that shaped who they became.
For Steve, the most powerful moments are rarely scripted. They happen when someone forgets about the camera and simply begins to remember.
Chris Nowakowski - Producer
Chris has spent much of his life looking at the world through a camera.
A photographer, filmmaker and producer, his curiosity has taken him across more than 30 countries, documenting people, places and cultures along the way. His photography and writing have been published, exhibited and used commercially, while his professional career has spanned documentary, branded and commercial storytelling.
Chris co-founded Gotham Studios along with Steve in 2014, beginning a creative partnership that would eventually lead to them back together here at Legacy Films.
As a producer, Chris brings a natural eye for the details others might overlook — the photograph on the wall, an unexpected memory, a pause in a conversation. He believes those seemingly small moments are often the ones that reveals the most about life.
